Steve Buzak is a chef, artist, and internationally recognized ice carver whose journey from culinary school to competitive ice carving has been marked by dedication, creativity, and resilience. Growing up ice fishing taught him the importance of layering up—essential when carving up to 15 blocks of ice over 35 hours in extreme cold. His first experience sculpting ice came while attending NAIT's Culinary Arts programs, sparking a love for the art that would see him partnering with an accomplished carver and competing in events worldwide.
Steve's training combines live demonstrations at fundraisers and schools with learning from the global ice-carving community. He believes in drawing inspiration from those around him, a value he applies both in the kitchen and in ice carving. Known for his motto, "Don’t let anybody tell you that you can’t do something," Steve has proven that persistence and passion can make even the most challenging achievements possible—including overcoming world champion carvers.
